01 · The Challenge

4.2 km of cold service with a tight underground section.

Stringent temperature-gain requirements at every section — and a 400 m underground tunnel under a road with only 50 mm clearance.

  • 4.2 km cold-service pipeline. Carrying ethylene at −100 °C between facilities.
  • 400 m underground tunnel section. Space constraint of 50 mm left for insulation in the tunnel.
  • Heat-gain budget at every section. Stringent ΔT requirement end-to-end.

02 · The Solution

Cryogel® Z is the only material that fits — and performs.

Cryogel® Z 10 mm met both the space constraint and the thermal target, plus delivered passive fire protection as a bonus.

  • Met the ΔT requirement at every section. Cold-service performance held across 4.2 km.
  • Only material able to fit the underground tunnel. 50 mm clearance ruled out every traditional alternative.
  • Pre-cut in workshop, installed at site. Accelerated installation rate across the long run.
  • Passive fire protection included. Added safety benefit on the pipeline scope.

03 · The Outcome

~258,000 ft² installed, ΔT held end-to-end.

Approximately 258,000 ft² of Cryogel® Z 10 mm was deployed across the 4.2 km route — delivering the ΔT budget at every section, fitting the 50 mm underground tunnel clearance, and adding passive fire protection.
