Cold Service

Changing the Narrative on Cold Application Insulation

System operators must consider both moisture and thermal management in their cold application designs. Water vapor in ambient air is drawn to surfaces that are below the dew point. Once water vapor enters a cold insulation system, it begins to freeze and creates destructive ice formations. Ice formation in a cryogenic insulation system not only causes mechanical damage but reduces the thermal performance of the engineered system. This causes reduced process yields and more liquid to boil off, reducing unit and facility profits.

Cryogel® Z blanket insulation is durable and flexible and includes a vapor retardant barrier. Its high thermal performance enables thinner designs for improved space efficiency. Cryogel Z is ideal for both maintenance work and new builds, providing faster and safer installations with sustained long-term performance.

Benefits

  • Fast and Easy Installation

An integrated, vapor retarder provides redundant protection in an easy-to-install package. Cryogel Z blankets can be installed up to 30% faster than traditional insulation.

  • No Contraction Joints

Cryogel insulation blankets expand and contract at the rate of the underlying metal, eliminating the need for contraction joints, saving both time and money.

  • No Damage or Breakage

Cryogel insulation resists mechanical damage from tool drops and foot falls, protecting system assets both during install and while in service.

  • Versatile

Sustained performance during construction, transport and operations makes Cryogel suitable for pre-insulation and modular builds.
