Donald R. Young
Donald R. Young has been President, Chief Executive Officer and a member of the board of directors since November 2001. Prior to joining Aspen Aerogels, Mr. Young served as Chief Executive Officer of HighWired, a leading venture capital backed software and e-learning company. Prior to that, Mr. Young worked in the United States and abroad in a broad range of senior operating roles for Cabot Corporation, a leading global specialty chemical company. Prior to Cabot Corporation, Mr. Young worked in the investment business at Fidelity Management & Research. Mr. Young holds a BA from Harvard College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
John F. Fairbanks
John F. Fairbanks has been Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer since October 2006. Prior to joining Aspen Aerogels, Mr. Fairbanks was a Senior Vice President of New England Business Service, Inc., or NEBS, and served as treasurer, chief financial officer and in several senior operating roles for NEBS during his tenure. Immediately prior to joining NEBS, Mr. Fairbanks was vice president and treasurer of M/A-Com, Inc. Mr. Fairbanks holds a BA in Economics from Middlebury College and an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania.
Jeff Angus
Jeff Angus joined Aspen Aerogels in 2011 as Chief Information Officer. He has over 30 years of experience deploying technology in multiple industries, including manufacturing, distribution and financial. For the past five years Mr. Angus was the Principal of Executive Technology Partners, LLC, a technology consulting firm that specialized in providing strategic technology consulting services to executives and boards. Prior to that, Mr. Angus was the COO of BankRI for two years and the Senior VP of IT for NEBS for nine years. Mr. Angus’ extensive executive management background gives him unique insight into matters pertaining to the effective deployment of business technology.
Seth Canter
Seth Canter has been Vice President, Human Resources since October of 2005. Prior to joining Aspen Aerogels as Director of Human Resources in April of 2004, Mr. Canter spent 25 years with New England Business Service, Inc., a 4,000 employee business forms provider. While a member of the Human Resources group he held a variety positions, notably in Training and Development, Compensation and Benefits, Employee Relations, Facility HR Management and, most recently, as the Director of Corporate Human Resources. Mr. Canter earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the University of Southern Maine and a Masters of Business Administration from Rivier College with a concentration in Human Resources Management.
George L. Gould
George L. Gould, Ph.D. has been with Aspen Aerogels since its inception in 2001 and has served as Vice President, Research and Development since April 2011. Prior to joining Aspen Aerogels, Dr. Gould was employed by its predecessor, Aspen Systems. Prior to joining Aspen Systems, Dr. Gould was a chemistry professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Gould holds a B.A. in Chemistry from the College of Wooster, a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from Yale University and carried out his post-doctoral training at Brookhaven National Laboratory.
Michael O'Connor
Michael O’Connor is Vice President, Europe Building and Construction. He leads Aspen Aerogels’ growth in the international building & construction market. Mr. O’Connor graduated from the University of Nottingham, UK, with a BSc in Mechanical Engineering. He has more than 20 years experience in sales and marketing management, most recently with the Dow Chemical Company.
Kevin A. Schmidt
Kevin A. Schmidt has been with Aspen Aerogels since June 2004 and has served as Vice President, Operations since February 2007. From June 2004 to February 2007, Mr. Schmidt served as Vice President, Manufacturing. Prior to joining Aspen Aerogels, Mr. Schmidt worked for the Dow Chemical Company as a plant and site leader on global business and operational teams. Mr. Schmidt holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University.
Harry R. Walkoff
Harry R. Walkoff has been with Aspen Aerogels since December 2006 and has served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Prior to joining Aspen Aerogels, Mr. Walkoff served as vice president of marketing for FOAMGLAS and Glass Block products with Pittsburgh Corning Corporation. Mr. Walkoff holds a BS in Geophysical Engineering from Colorado School of Mines.
Corby Whitaker
Corby Whitaker joined Aspen Aerogels in January 2012 and serves as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Prior to joining Aspen Aerogels, Mr. Whitaker gained global experience in senior sales, marketing, and business development leadership roles in the energy, renewable energy, building materials, and industrial equipment industries. Mr. Whitaker earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University.
Susan W. White
Susan W. White joined Aspen Aerogels in 2011 and serves as Vice President, Finance and Corporate Strategy. Prior to joining Aspen Aerogels, Ms. White was the Americas CFO for Novell and also served as Director of Investor Relations during her tenure. Prior to Novell, Ms. White was a Vice President at JP Morgan Securities covering the Internet/New Media industry as a senior sell-side analyst. Ms. White also held positions as a consultant at Boston Consulting Group and Monitor Company. Ms. White holds a BA in Applied Mathematics and Economics from University of California at Berkeley and an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania.
